BARBEQUE PARTY & WORKSHOP DISCUSSION

4795002423_c92be787ce_b

On the 29th of May at 6.30 pm we decided to have a Barbeque evening in the backyard of Open Design City. While eating, chilling and communicating with each other on Tuesday evening, we would like to discuss the potential future workshops in Open Design City.

Meeting agenda:

- Eat/drink/chill

- Discussion about what we would like to teach/learn

- Schedule the workshop timetable for the upcoming months

There will be a big June/July/August calendar, in which all of us may place a workshop to hold in ODC or, maybe, create a new one, collaborating with each other. There will also be space for experimenting – working on new ideas, concepts and prototypes all together or trying out new workshops (if you are not sure you are ready to hold a paid workshop yet) inside ODC on Monday nights within the regular DIY BAUSTELMONDAY event.

Would be cool if we all get something to grill/drink and share with each other.

You are friendly recommended to invite as many of your creative friends as you want :)

Looking forward to see you all !

P.S. If you have any questions regarding the event, don`t hesitate to contact elizaveta@betahaus.de

This Monday night (as every Monday night) Open Design City will be opened for everyone, who would like to try out our tools, 3d printer, get to know how we are working and get involved in different D.I.Y. projects.

This night we will continue building a “Jerry”, a cheap DIY open source server housed in a water canister. You are more than welcome to join in if you haven`t started working on it with us yet. It is rugged and cheap and ready for use all around the world. Jerry’s creator, Romain, will show you how to build your own Jerry server.

Romain was invited by the folks at knowable http://knowable.org/ - a social platform for diy projects and recycling and upcycling ideas for developing countries. More about Jerry at http://flavors.me/jerrydiy

Baustelmontag plus Repair Night und Jerry DIY Server

baustelrepairjerry.jpg

This Monday night (as every Monday night) Open Design City will be opened for everyone, who would like to try out our tools, 3d printer, get to know how we are working and get involved in different D.I.Y. projects.

The tradition remains, just THIS MONDAY we made a little addition for you. During the Repair Monday Night you are more than welcome to bring anything you want to be repaired (bike/computer/T-shirt/mood/etc.) – our brave ODC-people and sewing machines will be there for you and ready to help you/teach you to fix anything you want.

Also visiting us this night are the makers of “Jerry”, a cheap DIY open source server housed in a water canister. It is rugged and cheap and ready for use all around the world. Jerry’s creator, Romain, will show you how to build your own Jerry server.

Kieznetzwerk workshop with Trial&Error goes Pfandtasche!

The 17th of December Trial&Error kickstarted the Kieznetzwerk - a platform for practically sharing ideas and workshop concepts - with a Pfandtasche workshop!

People from the neighbourhood were invited to make workshopboxes representing their ideas. On each workshopbox you can sign with your name if you like the idea - and we hope to bring likeminded people togheter. For example a “Raucher-box” was made - representing a possible purifing smoke day by Maria, who has knowledge on schaman methods, as well as a “Backfreude-box” - bringing the idea of a competition for the tastiest cake in the kiez.

Besides the conceptualizing of ideas, there was also the possibility to make the most brightest bags of Neukölln! It proved to be a great day, as a bunch of very energetic kids showed up to make bags in the speed of light! We never ever had such an enthusiastic bag production team before!

The results of the Kieznetzwerk workshop will be presented in an exhibition in the Dritte Raum in January. The workshop boxes will be an interactive part of the opening - as good ideas are for sharing. Some of the bags as well as photos by SNPR and Christophe Valliant will be presented.

See you at the Dritte Raum!

Next Baustelmontag: MeeBlip MeeTup

If you own a MeeBlip synth - or if you're curious about this entirely open source, affordable, hackable mono synthesizer instrument - be sure to stop by ODC Monday night.

We will be:

  1. Working on MeeBlip synths, making noises, making modifications, playing with MIDI and making faceplates
  2. Upgrading existing MeeBlip owners to the new firmware, just released
  3. Jamming together with our creations at the end of the evening - an open synth open mic

This isn't a workshop - just an open hackathon and chance to meet and ask questions.

No MeeBlip required to attend.

PETER KIRN (createdigitalmusic.com, MeeBlip co-creator) will host.
