Hot on the tail of our LED Throwie action at Kottbusser Tor, and because of the roughly 18,000,000 comments on Heise.de about what we were going to do about the batteries, we built a Throwie Removal Unit (Instructable >> here < <)… an extension painters pole with a large metal plate… and took ‘em all down… at least, the 66 out of 350+ that were still there (?!??!??! … our guess is pigeons blinging out their nests… but if anyone has other ideas or facts, we’re interested).

Following in the grand tradition of our sister cells in New York, Vienna, and Montreal, we have recently secured some funding to produce a Mobile Broadcast Unit – a Copenhagen-style, front-loaded cargo bike, outfitted with a deep cycle battery, power inverter, beamer, laptop, camera, and sound system with fm transmission.
This will allow us to do guerilla projection bombing anywhere in Berlin.
Anyone with interest and/or experience in bike modding and mobile power is welcome to contact us and become involved.
Once we have finished construction, we will be offering the MBU as an equipment grant to other artistic, social, and political groups for events (MayDay riots, anyone ??)
Thanks to the Berlin Chapter of the Awesome Foundation and KulturAmt Nuekölln for the support. We’ll make you proud!
In case you missed SVG2BVG at transmediale11, GRL Germany will have the complete set-up running for the Cognitive Cities Conference on Sunday Feb 27. CoCities will be a couple days of intense ideas around the future of cities, including a full day of free activities, exhibitions and workshops …

We’re very excited to be part of Street Lab Meets Berlin in March. We’re planning a night of urban projections on Friday March 11 … featuring blitzTag. Check back soon for more details. Should be a fun time for all.
As part of the Street Lab meets Berlin Fest, we’re showing blitzTag this weekend, plus doing an intro/behind the scenes talk. We’re also working with local artist Shine in Decay, who will be leading an LED throwie workshop & urban installation. Details below:

GRL Germany presents blitzTag, a brand new Laser Tag software, with a whole suite of new features. You are invited to as yet undisclosed location, to bomb urban space with massive light based graffiti. blitzTag is not meant to replace the grand tradition of physical graffiti, it is an alternative open source tool – for urban communication in the digital age.
